Chatham Business Hosting White Shark Research Fundraiser

KA_Chatham_puritan cape cod_110615CHATHAM – The organization spearheading great white shark research in local waters is teaming up with a Chatham business for a fundraiser this week.

Puritan Cape Cod on Main Street Chatham will host the second annual “Shop for Shark Research” fundraiser benefiting the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy Tuesday from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.

10 percent of sales will be donated to the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. Limited edition Patagonia white shark apparel will be sold, with all proceeds from those sales going to research efforts.

State shark expert Dr. Greg Skomal will provide attendees with a mid-season update on shark research.

“We’ve had a very busy start to the 2016 season and we’re learning more each year about the movement patterns and behavior of white sharks through the research Atlantic White Shark Conservancy is funding,” said Cynthia Wigren, the Executive Director of the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. “We are thrilled to partner with Puritan Cape Cod and Patagonia. Through the generous support of these businesses and the local community we can continue to support this critical research as well as expand our shark education programs.”
