Chatham Coast Guard Crew Medevacs Injured Fisherman

CHATHAM – A Coast Guard Crew from Station Chatham medevaced a fisherman who suffered an injury about 30 miles east of Nantucket Saturday night.

Crewmembers aboard the fishing vessel Illusion, homeported out of New Beford, reported to Coast Guard Watchstanders that a fisherman suffered a severe hand laceration.

The Coast Guard crew launched with two fire department EMTs and met the Illusion at the entrance of Great Round Shoal. The victim was transferred to the Coast Guard vessel and received care from the onboard EMTs.

The fisherman was transported to Saquatucket Harbor to meet with a waiting emergency crew.
