Chatham Town Meeting Rejects Senior Center Project

CHATHAM – Chatham town meeting voters rejected a $6.6 million plan to build a new senior center on Monday night.

While a majority voted in favor, it wasn’t the two-thirds required for the spending item.

In other action, Chatham residents approved the $30 million operating budget for the next fiscal year and a changes to the zoning laws that will allow accessory dwelling units.

Town meeting also okayed several Community Preservation Act spending articles.

A special town meeting Tuesday night will seek money to help save the VFW property.
