FALMOUTH – The Clark Cancer Center at Falmouth Hospital is celebrating its five year anniversary.
The center offers close-to-home radiation oncology services to the people of the Upper Cape.
The 10,000 square foot center was made possible by a $10 million donation from Falmouth resident James Clark and his wife Ruth.
“Cancer patients have to come for six to eight weeks for treatment and they can be very sick,” said Clark radiation oncologist Daniel Canaday. “It’s almost impossible for some of them, they are in such a weakened condition.”
The Center also received a $1 million donation from the Falmouth Hospital Auxiliary.
Since opening its doors in 2011, the Center has seen nearly 1,400 patients and provided almost 30,000 treatments.
“This five year anniversary for the Clark Cancer Center highlights the vision we have had for Cape Cod Healthcare, which is creating more access to quality healthcare services on Cape Cod,” said Cape Cod Healthcare President and CEO Michael Lauf.
