Cleanup Continues at Nauset Beach in Wake of Storms

ORLEANS – Town officials in Orleans continue to work on making the oversand trails passable again after the beach was hit hard by the series of nor’easters this winter.

Barring any more inclement weather, the Natural Resources Department hopes to have Nauset Beach South open as soon as Saturday, April 7.

“Thank you for being patient,” officials wrote in a statement on the town’s website. “We are doing everything we can to reopen the trails ASAP”

Staff recently started maintenance repairs on the back trail of Nauset Beach South after it was saturated by a significant amount of water. The trail is in the process of drying out.

9 Americorps volunteers have been working at the beach since last week to replace miles of symbolic fencing.
