Coast Guard Rescues Four Lobstermen Off Block Island

BLOCK ISLAND – Four lobstermen are safe today after their boat sank about 40 miles off of Block Island.

A Jayhawk helicopter from Coast Guard Air Station Cape Cod was dispatched to the scene after a distress call came in around 4:15 this morning.

The lobstermen were forced to abandon ship, but were rescued from the water by the Coast Guard. None of the fishermen were injured.

The 60-foot Sakonnet Lobster was based out of Sakonnet, Rhode Island.
