ONSET – The body of a missing boater was found Sunday in the Cape Cod Canal, just under a day after the Coast Guard launched a search for him.

A search started on Saturday after a 30-foot vessel was found in gear without an operator off the coast of Marion. A 22 hour search commenced, covering about 400 nautical miles, before the man’s body was found.

He has not been identified.

The Coast Guard Cutter Ocracoke, boats from Station Woods Hole and Station Cape Cod Canal, along with an MH-60 helicopter crew from Air Station Cape Cod and other local government agencies searched waters from Buzzards Bay to Nye’s Neck.
