COASTSWEEP Hosting Cleanups This Weekend Across the Cape

FALMOUTH – COASTSWEEP, the state-side beach cleanup effort, is holding events this weekend in Falmouth, Mashpee and Harwich.

Volunteers will be at Washburn Island and South Cape Beach on Saturday, with the cleanup organized by the Waquoit Bay Reserve Foundation.

The Town of Harwich is also organizing a cleanup on Saturday at Red River Beach, Wychmere Harbor, Bank Street, Earl Road and Grey Neck Pleasant Bay.

Organized by the Office of Coastal Zone Management, COASTSWEEP cleanups will be held until early November.

Since 1987, thousands of COASTSWEEP volunteers have removed hundreds of tons of marine debris and other trash from Massachusetts beaches, lakes, rivers and seafloor.
