College Scholarships Awarded at Barnstable County Fair

EAST FALMOUTH – The Barnstable County Agricultural Society awarded $35,000 in scholarships to 18 local students Thursday night at the Barnstable County Fair.

The money is awarded to qualifying high school seniors and college students on Cape Cod who plan to study in one of several agricultural or marine science curriculums.

The program is designed to preserve and promote agriculture and related fields in Barnstable County and to improve the Cape’s economy through education.

Scholarships are funded through proceeds from Barnstable County Fair ticket sales and vendor fees.

Eligible categories include: Agriculture, Aquaculture, Green Sciences, Turf/Grass Management, Marine Sciences, Equine Sciences, Veterinarian, Family and Consumer Sciences to include Interior Design, Clothing and Textiles, Culinary Arts, Nutrition and Food Preservation, or Management in a related field.

  

The 18 recipients of the 2018 Barnstable County Agricultural Society Scholarships are:

–       Allison Carter, Centerville

–       Isabel Chaves, Dennis Port

–       Isabel Davern, East Falmouth

–       Renee DeAngelis, Wareham

–       Kirsten Lewis, Sandwich

–       Ann Marie Luppino, Wareham

–       Annalee May, Dennis

–       Miriam May, Dennis

–       Trevor Milliken, Monument Beach

–       Carl Mueller, Centerville

–       Cameron Patton, Pocasset

–       Casey Reed, East Falmouth

–       Samantha Silverbrand, Buzzards Bay

–       Cameron Smith, Teaticket

–       Emma Starkweather, Harwich

–       Hannah Fitzpatrick, Mashpee
