“Comedy for the Community” to be Held on October 12

SANDWICH – Three non-profit organizations providing services to people with disabilities will be the beneficiaries of “Comedy for the Community,” sponsored by Rogers & Gray Charitable Foundation on Thursday, Oct. 12, at Heritage Museums & Gardens in Sandwich.

Any nonprofit or board member of a nonprofit organization who attends can enter their organization into a raffle to win one of five “Surprise” Grants chosen during the evening.

Grants to the event’s beneficiaries will also be announced.

Comedy for the Community tickets are $150 each and includes beverages and food from The Casual Gourmet, the comedy performances and other activities.

Stand-up comedians Kevin Flynn and John Turco will headline the event.

Flynn, a former soccer pro, has entertained audiences for years with his stand-up comedy performances, headlining at clubs and colleges around the world.

He has appeared in comedy specials on NBC, MTV and A&E; and his film and television credits include “The Heartbreak Kid” with Ben Stiller; & “Me, Myself and Irene” with Jim Carrey.

Turco is a rising star among comics, in the Boston and Providence comedy scenes.

His sarcastic humor is peppered with colorful characters and impressions. He has worked with national acts and been featured in movies, including “A Civil Action” and “Boondock Saints.”
