BARNSTABLE – The Cape Cod Commission has approved a 23-lot subdivision on Atkins Road in East Sandwich. The 37-acre property is located north of Route 6 and east of Quaker Meeting House Road.
Project attorney Eliza Cox of Nutter, McClennen & Fish said, the developer is planning to bring a water line under Route 6 to service the subdivision. She said the new water line would improve water pressure and, therefore, fire service, to the area.
Bringing a water line under Route 6 was the suggestion of Sandwich’s water superintendent, she said.
“I think this is a really good project. Substantial thought has gone into it,” she said.
The lot abuts town-owned conservation land and will include at 25 acres of open space because the house lots will be clustered on 10,000- to 12,000-square-foot lots.
The commission approved the plans with a unanimous vote.
