BOSTON (AP) — The Massachusetts Gaming Commission is suggesting state lawmakers create

regulations that could apply to all online gambling technologies.

The commission on Monday released a report that says there’s a growing consensus that some regulations are needed to protect players and also to provide guidelines and predictability to daily fantasy sports operators.

The commission also says Massachusetts lawmakers should write the best regulations for the state rather than trying to accommodate what it calls a “peculiar and vague” federal statute.

The commission issued the report on the eve of a public hearing Tuesday on regulations proposed by Attorney General Maura Healey that would allow daily fantasy sports companies like FanDuel and Boston-based DraftKings to continue operating inMassachusetts.
