Community Action Committee Exceeds Health Connector Enrollment Goals

HYANNIS – The Community Action Committee of Cape Cod & Islands exceeded its goals during the last Massachusetts Health Connector Open Enrollment period from November through late January.

The committee is one of 16 community-based state funded navigator organizations which works to educate and assist eligible individuals with selecting and enrolling insurance plans.

“Our goal every Open Enrollment is to expand access to affordable coverage to people who do not have health insurance, and to ensure that our current members are able to maintain quality coverage that best suits their needs,” said Louis Gutierrez, the executive director of the Massachusetts Health Connector.

The committee also praised their out-posting partners who helped them connect with many Cape and Island residents. The partner organizations include the Falmouth Service Center, Lower Cape Outreach Council, Provincetown Veterans Memorial Center and Fairwinds – Nantucket Counseling Center.

Without our network and community partners who posted our Open Enrollment flyers, sent out information via their listservs, and referred their customers to us for assistance, we could have never exceeded our goals,” said Caronanne Procaccini, the director of client self-sufficiency for the agency.

The committee has three navigators available to assist people with their selection and enrollment.

Anyone who has questions about their current health plan, are newly eligible for subsidized public health insurance or qualify for a Speical Enrollment Period can call the agency at 508-771-1727, or walk-in at its North Street office in Hyannis.
