Community Brunch to Support Marstons Mills, Thank First Responders

COTUIT – A community pot luck brunch and picnic will be held next weekend to thank first responders and help improve Marstons Mills.

“Let’s Get the Mills Swinging” will be held Sunday, July 22 at 11 a.m. at the Cotuit Center for the Arts.

The event features Cape Harmony and the Hyannis Sound, Cape Cod’s summer all-star women’s and men’s collegiate a Capella groups.

Organizers suggest a $5 donation for attendees and the event is free for first responders.

In April, Yarmouth Police Sgt. Sean Gannon was killed in the line of duty in the village of Marstons Mills in a neighborhood known as “the Berries.”

After the incident residents in the area gained a greater appreciation for the challenges of first responders, and together with the Cotuit Center for the Arts and local Wendy’s restaurants organized the event to bring the community together.

Attendees are asked to bring a brunch plate to share and a cash bar will be available.

There will also be opportunities to raise funds to refurbish the Sand Shores playground and park.
