Concert Fundraiser Will Feature ‘Stage of Legends’

HYANNIS – Turn on a classic rock station and in a few hours you might hear Grand Funk Railroad, Foghat, the Johnny Winter Band and the Rick Derringer Band, as well as local heroes Aerosmith, the Cars, the J. Geils Band and Boston.

Some of the musicians from those iconic bands will share the stage Aug. 23 at the Cape Cod Melody Tent in a show to benefit Cape Cod Healthcare and its efforts to promote education and prevention of substance abuse.

The line-up will include:

– Mark Farner of Grand Funk Railroad (“We’re an American Band”)

– Rick Derringer of the Rick Derringer Band and the McCoys (“Hang on Sloopy”)

– Eliot Easton of the Cars (“Drive”)

– Barry Goudreau of Boston (“More Than a Feeling”)

– Jeff Howell of Foghat (“Slow Ride”)

– Marty Richards of the J. Geils Band (“Centerfold”)

Other performers will include blues musician James Montgomery, Paul Nelson of Johnny Winter’s band, jazz saxophonist Grace Kelly, the Uptown Horns (the horn section for the Rolling Stones), country singer Ayla Brown, guitar prodigy Aaron Norcross Jr. and two Cape Cod singers, Jordan Renzi and Chantal.

“It’s a lineup of legendary rock artists from the 1960s, ’70s and ’80s and some up-and-coming millennial artists,” said Greg O’Brien, a media communications consultant for the festival and owner of the Brewster-based Stony Brook Group.

Tickets On Sale Now

Tickets for the show are $136.50 and $250 (VIP) and are available at hopemusicfestival2017.com.

Funds raised will support Cape Cod Healthcare’s education and prevention efforts around  substance use disorders.

“Cape Cod Healthcare covers the entire Cape,” said O’Brien. “It is without a doubt the single most important provider of healthcare in the region.

“Without a healthy Cape Cod Healthcare, we don’t have a healthy Cape Cod. With all of the needs when it comes to programs for substance abuse, there is no better beneficiary.”

The festival is being organized by Brian Serpone Productions and presented by Cape Cod Broadcast Media. The show starts at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23 (doors open at 6:30), at the Cape Cod Melody Tent, 21 West Main Street, Hyannis.
