Construction of Service Road Pipeline Delayed

constructionSANDWICH – The Service Road gas line project in Sandwich has been delayed.

Construction of a natural gas pipeline by National Grid was originally supposed to begin in the spring but will now get underway in the fall, according to company spokesman Jake Navarro.

“We wanted to make sure at this late stage in the game, before we’re putting any shovels in the ground, we really get it right. That’s really why we tried to adjust the timeline,” Navarro said.

A group of residents opposed the project’s approval, expressing concerns about noise from nearby Route 6 and the cutting down of trees for the pipeline.

The pipeline will be installed between Route 130 and Chase Road.
