The Steamship Authority is planning a third slip at its Woods Hole terminal.

WOODS HOLE – Construction at the Steamship Authority’s Woods Hole Terminal will result in some delays Wednesday.

Crews are installing a new line handling catwalk for slip 1, a project that is expected to last throughout the day. That means ferries docking in Woods Hole will only be able to use the second slip.

The boat line says arrivals and departures in Woods Hole will be delayed from their published schedules as a result.

There were some delays to freight runs out of Woods Hole last week due to slip construction.

Three Steamship Authority vessels have been plagued by mechanical issues in recent months, forcing the cancellation of more than 500 trips since the beginning of the year. Earlier this month, the board voted to conduct an independent review of their operations.
