BOURNE – Federal, State and local non-profits are conducting a controlled burn at Camp Edwards on Joint Base Cape Cod today, weather permitting.
Also taking part is the Massachusetts Army National Guard.
The burns assist in improving the ecosystem for the approximately 37 state listed species of plants and animals found in the area and also provides the opportunity for training fire fighters.
In addition, the burns reduce the chances of actual wildfires.
