BUZZARDS BAY – The Cape Cod Canal railroad bridge will be getting a fresh coat of paint.
The Arms Corps of Engineers has awarded a $1.7 million contract for the project, which starts in the spring and is scheduled to finish by the end of September 2016.
Western New York-based Atlas Painting and Sheeting Corporation will handle the job.
The same company also had the project for the recently completed $12 million Sagamore Bridge painting project.
Crews will remove areas of peeling paint with hand tools and will also perform coating repairs. The contract was awarded at the end of September.
