COTUIT – The winter will be coming to an end next month and the Cotuit Center for the Arts will be warming up guests with a special chili event.

The 16th Annual Poetry and Chili Fest will be held on Saturday, March 5 at 6 p.m.

The evening will begin with a chili and cornbread contest as attendees will sample up to 30 different entries.

Cape Cod Poet Christine Rathbun Ernst will lead the poetry portion of the evening. Ernst is a writer and poet who performs regularly on stage and at local open mics. She also co-hosts the monthly Salon of Shorts at Cotuit Center for the Arts.

Her performance will be followed by music and dancing.

Chili and Cornbread contestants are asked to bring enough food for at least 150 small tastings. Cooks can register in advance at arts on the cape dot org. Chili toppings and decorations are encouraged.

Prizes will be awarded for best chili, best cornbread and best decorated station. Professional chefs and restaurants may participate, but will not be eligible for prizes.

Tickets are $20, $15 for members, and free tickets are provided for registered cooks. To buy tickets, please click here.
