COTUIT – Cotuit Center for the Arts presents a musical comedy beginning Wednesday.
“Sweet Charity” runs from June 26 through July 14 and July 24 through the 28.
Performances are Wednesday through Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 4 p.m.
Michele Colley directs, with musical direction by Malcolm Granger.
“Sweet Charity” captures all the energy, humor, and heartbreak of life in the Big City for one sweet and wild optimist through a groovy mid-1960s score by Cy Coleman, lyrics by Dorothy Fields and a book by Neil Simon.
The musical explores the turbulent love life of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopeless romantic dance hall hostess at the Fandango Ballroom in New York’s Times Square.
Despite her bad luck with men and her frustrations with her job, she remains sweet and hopeful, as she encounters one awkward and amusing experience after another.
Tickets are $40, $35 for balcony seats, with a $2 discount for seniors and veterans. To purchase tickets, visit artsonthecape.org.
