Council to Hear from 1st of Baker’s 3 SJC Nominees

GavelBOSTON (AP) — One of three nominees to fill upcoming vacancies on Massachusetts’ highest court is headed to Beacon Hill for a review by the Governor’s Council.

The eight-member council, which has the final say on all judicial nominations, is scheduled to hold a confirmation hearing for Superior Court Judge Frank Gaziano at the Statehouse on Wednesday.

Republican Gov. Charlie Baker nominated Gaziano along with Superior Court judges Kimberly Budd and David Lowy to fill the seats of three Supreme Judicial Court justices who are retiring from the bench this summer.

Confirmation hearings for Budd and Lowy are scheduled later this month.
