BARNSTABLE – Ebola preparedness was the topic of a recent meeting put together by county officials.

Emergency workers and health care professionals met with county officials to discuss protocols, including 911 call screening, emergency response procedures, and proper use of protective gear.

“[The meeting] was touching on a broad range of topics with the intent within the next week or so to develop more specific protocols,” said Kevin Morley, the Public Information Officer for the Barnstable County Emergency Planning Committee. “Given concerns about the Ebola virus disease around the nation, we felt it was important to gather public safety and public health officials, and also local health care professionals, just to review preparedness in Barnstable County.”

Morley added they want to be prepared not just for Ebola, but any infectious disease that medical personnel could encounter.
