CPD, SCORE Cape Cod to Host Series of Marketing Workshops

EASTHAM – The Community Development Partnership (CDP) is hosting a marketing workshop series this month.

The CDP is partnering with SCORE Cape Cod to bring the three-part Marketing Musts workshop to small business owners on the Lower Cape. The sessions are designed to improve marketing skills and further develop brands.

The Marketing Musts series will be held at the CDP offices in Eastham on March 5 and March 19, with the final session on April 2. Participants can register for one or all three of the classes.

“The series is really based on helping business owners improve their marketing skills and further developing their brand,” said CDP Director of Business Programs Pamela Andersen.

“So, the three topics within that are ‘Networking Like Your Business Depends Upon It,’ because it does; ‘Creating the Brand Called __’ whatever your brand is; ‘Building Your Business Into a Relevant Brand,’ and ‘Marketing is More than Advertising.”

The first workshop, on March 5, will be hosted by Marc Goldberg, of Marketech Inc. and a SCORE mentor. Goldberg will present “Networking Like Your Business Depends On It… IT DOES”.

This workshop will provide practical tools that help to expand the sphere of influence and grow a small business. Participants will leave this workshop with specific tools that they can use to plan, execute and follow up on their next networking opportunity.

On March 19, Jean Mojo, also a SCORE mentor, will present “Creating the Brand Called ‘____’”. Building Your Business into a Relevant Brand.” The workshop focuses on how to identify and define point of difference and then how to translate that into a brand statement. Participants will learn how to create a differentiated brand positioning statement that will resonate with target consumers.

The final workshop “Marketing – It’s More Than Advertising,” on April 2, will be presented again by Marc Goldberg. Marketing is the revenue driver of businesses. Covering the key introductory principles of marketing, the workshop will help participants understand how to leverage their brands while integrating all aspects of marketing to retain and add on to the customer base. Participants will learn to set marketing objectives and tactical concepts that will help successfully execute against those objectives.

“We want people to continue to develop their skills in this area so they can market their businesses better and hopefully improve their bottom line,” Andersen said.

The series of spring workshops for small businesses is sponsored by the Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod.

The CDP’s Business and Credit Program is funded through Mass Growth Capital Corporation, USDA Rural Development Rural Business Development Grant, Cape Air, Cape Cod Five Charitable Foundation Trust, Santander Bank and Seamen’s Bank Long Point Charitable Foundation.
