BOSTON – The state House and Senate passed legislation Wednesday that establishes a Civics Project Trust Fund to assist with the development of a history and social science curriculum framEwork, for collaboration with institutions of higher education and other stakeholder organizations; it also establishes a competitive evaluation.
2nd Barnstable State Rep Will Crocker, (R-Centerville) a member of the Civics Conference Committee, was happy about the bill’s passage. “My colleagues and I on the conference committee worked very hard to ensure that this bill provided a more comprehensive basis for civics education in the Commonwealth. As a former civics teacher myself I have seen first hand the need for civics education in our classrooms.”
The bill now moves to the Governor’s desk for his signature.
