solar panelsSOUTH YARMOUTH – The Dennis-Yarmouth Regional School District will hold a celebration to mark the construction completion of the school district’s six solar projects, which were made possible by the Cape and Vineyard Electric Cooperative.

The celebration will be held Wednesday, October 8 at 9:30 a.m. at Dennis-Yarmouth Regional High School at 210 Station Avenue in South Yarmouth.

The six projects will generate just under 3 megawatts of renewable energy to benefit the DY Regional School District and several Cape and Martha’s Vineyard municipalities.

The CVEC photovoltaic projects will provide financial, educational and environmental benefits for the district.

Solar panels projects include roof installations at the high school, Mattacheese Middle School, the Ezra Baker Innovation School and the ME Small School.

Ground mounted solar arrays will be installed at the NH Wixon Innovation School and the high school.

The energy produced will save the district almost $224,000 in the first year.
