Darrell Hammond to Speak in Hyannis on Thursday

HYANNIS – Comedian and former Saturday Night Live cast member Darrell Hammond will be speaking during an event on Thursday at Barnstable High School.

The Samaritans on the Cape and Islands is holding its 40^th anniversary with the event at the Barnstable High School Performing Arts Center from 6:30-8:30 p.m. and tickets are $15 per person.

Hammond will speak about his battle with mental illness, self-injury and substance abuse and how he used comedy as a survival mechanism.

The evening with Hammond will conclude with a Q&A session followed by a set of his most famous impressions.

Since its founding its in 1977, the Samaritans have answered around 975,000 phone calls from people suffering from depression, anxiety, loneliness and suicidal ideations and have trained close to 900 volunteers.
