Dates Announced For Annual Event Supporting Our Troops

HYANNIS – The 14^th annual Troops in the Spotlight event, presented by Cape Cod Cares for the Troops, will take place on May 27^th and 28^th.

Over the 24 hour period, items will be collected for care packages along with monetary donations to cover shipping costs. The goal is to raise $35,000 and fill an 18 foot truck with goods.

The opening ceremony will be on Sunday at 11:30am.

Since the organization’s founding twelve years ago, it has sent more than 29,000 care packages to our troops.

The focus of the event is honoring Veterans, Wounded Warriors as well as gold and blue star families. Military personnel will take turns standing at attention for one hour.

Highlights include sending a free video message to troops in Afghanistan and Iraq, seeing a large display and demonstration of military equipment, racing with National Guard Go-karts, a kid’s tent with different activities, a free BBQ lunch and much more.
