Davenport Foundation for the Arts Accepting Scholarship Applications

SOUTH YARMOUTH – The trustees of the John K. and Thirza F. Davenport Foundation for the Arts are accepting scholarship applications.

The scholarships are for Barnstable County residents in the last two years of undergraduate study or, preferably, graduate work in the visual and performing arts.

Applications can be downloaded from thedavenportcompanies.com, or picked up at the Foundation’s South Yarmouth office at 20 North Main Street and the deadline to apply is July 15.

Personal interviews are an integral part of the scholarship granting process.

All scholarships will be based on need, ability, grades and proven desire in the field of endeavor. Scholarships are granted on a year to year basis, without commitments for continuous funding.

The foundation was established in 1985. Primary funding for the foundation has come from family members, Davenport Realty Trust and private gifts.

Scholarship recipients are encouraged to return to the foundation the amounts they were awarded, when reasonably possible, in order to expand its assistance to others in need of scholarship aid.
