Day 4 of Cross-Cape Housing Walk to Travel Through Barnstable, Sandwich

KA_Bob Murray_Walk_Brewster_071216_006HYANNIS – Today marks the fourth day of the Bob Murray Housing With Love Walk, the annual event raising money for homelessness prevention and affordable housing efforts on Cape Cod.

Participants are walking from Hyannis to Sandwich today, covering nearly 16 miles. The day’s activities began with a mass at St. Pius Church in South Yarmouth.

Yesterday, walkers traveled 17 miles from Chatham to South Yarmouth. The event began on Monday in Provincetown.

Between 300 and 400 participants are expected over the course of the week with about 50 to 60 walking each day, with a small number of walkers who walk all the way from Provincetown to Falmouth.

The walk supports nine social service agencies, including Housing Assistance Corporation, Champ Homes in Hyannis, the Chatham Ecumenical Council for the Homeless and the Community Development Partnership.

Since its inception in 1993, the walk has raised over $4.5 million.
