BOURNE – The Bob Murray Housing With Love Walk is underway again, as volunteers take part in the fifth day of the week-long, cross-Cape fundraiser.
Walkers will travel 14 miles Friday from the Cape Cod Canal in Bourne to East Falmouth. On Thursday, participants completed a 16-mile trek from Hyannis to Sandwich.
The annual event raises money for affordable housing efforts and homelessness prevention and is named in honor of Bob Murray, its founder and a longtime Cape Cod housing advocate.
The walk has raised over $4.7 million for local non-profits since its inception in 1993.
The event began Monday in Provincetown and will wrap up Sunday in Falmouth.
The beneficiaries for this year’s event include CHAMP Homes in Hyannis; Chatham Ecumenical Council for the Homeless; Community Development Partnership in Eastham; Harwich Ecumenical Council for the Homeless; Homeless Not Hopeless, Inc. in Hyannis; Housing Assistance Corporation in Hyannis; Homeless Prevention Council in Orleans; and the St. Vincent de Paul Society in Eastham.
