CHATHAM – The Bob Murray Housing With Love Walk continues today, with walkers setting out on day three for a nearly 17 mile trek from Chatham to South Yarmouth.
The week-long, cross-Cape journey raises money for homelessness prevention and affordable housing efforts in the region. The walk started on Monday in Provincetown and ends on Sunday in Falmouth.
Yesterday, walkers traveled between Wellfleet and Orleans, a 16 mile journey.
Between 300 and 400 participants are expected over the course of the week with about 50 to 60 walking each day, with a small number of walkers who walk all the way from Provincetown to Falmouth.
The walk supports nine social service agencies, including Housing Assistance Corporation, Champ Homes in Hyannis, the Chatham Ecumenical Council for the Homeless and the Community Development Partnership.
Since its inception in 1993, the walk has raised over $4.5 million.
