Deadline for Heroes Breakfast Nominations Looming

AMERICAN RED CROSSHYANNIS – The deadline to submit nominations for the 15th annual Heroes Breakfast, hosted by the Cape, Islands and Southeast Chapter of the American Red Cross, is fast approaching.

Nominations can be submitted through December 31, and the event showcases how local heroes change lives through selfless acts.

“They don’t do it for the recognition, they do it to be a helper,” said chapter Executive Director Hilary Greene. “Those are the type of people we need to recognize, and let them know that we appreciate their service to our community.”

There are many hero categories that will be recognized including life-saving, community service, professional, youth, among others, and it’s expected that more than 500 people will attend the annual event being held April 7, 2017 at the Resort and Conference Center in Hyannis.

It’s also the largest fundraising event of the year for the local Red Cross chapter, and for this year’s breakfast, Air Force Col. Virginia Doonan, commander of the 102nd Intelligence Wing, will be the emcee.

Nominations can be submitted through the Red Cross website.
