DeMacedo Gives Farewell Speech to State Senate

PLYMOUTH – Plymouth and Barnstable State Senator Vinny deMacedo bid farewell to the Massachusetts Senate on Wednesday.

He delivered a speech to his colleagues in the senate chamber, thanking his constituents and detailing how hard it’s going to be to leave his post.

He also remarked on how excited he is for the next chapter of his career.

DeMacedo announced last month that he is stepping down from his seat to accept a position with Bridgewater State University.

He will become the Director of Regional Partnerships for the University.

He has served in the legislature for 21 years, first serving as State Representative in 1998 and then being elected to the senate in 2014.

DeMacedo’s family attended the speech, as did the entire Cape and Islands legislative delegation.

The Senate is expected to soon set a date for the special election for deMacedo’s seat, to fill the remainder of his term.
