WEST DENNIS – The Ezra H. Baker Innovation School is expected to be open in time for fall classes, after a project to remove asbestos from the floors began earlier this month.
Dennis-Yarmouth School District Committee Chairman Brian Carey said the work will be done by mid-August.
“The committee believes the buildings are viable and I believe the majority of the town does too,” Carey said.
Carey explained that carpeting will be replaced with hard-surface flooring, since there was asbestos under the main floor.
The Regional School Committee approved the project’s contract in June with FA Environmental Resources, LLC.
The same firm which oversaw the asbestos removal project in the Baker school’s gym last year, Vertex, is also overseeing the current project.
