HYANNIS – Cape Cod’s first baby of 2018 has arrived.
Ozeneide Griti of Dennis gave birth to a baby girl, Jhulie Griti-Barroso, Monday afternoon at Cape Cod Hospital. Jhulie arrived at 4:32 p.m. and was 7 pounds, 1 ounce.
Baby Jhulie was born a few days early. She was scheduled to be delivered by Caesarean section on Wednesday, but mom went into labor late Monday morning.
“Labor happened so quick,” Griti said.
Shortly after Griti arrived at Cape Cod Hospital, doctors delivered Jhulie by C-section.
Jhulie’s birth is also being celebrated by her dad, Marcos Barroso, and her 8-year-old sister Maria. Baby Jhulie was born in the same room that Maria was born in 8 years earlier.
Griti was an obstetrics nurse in her native Brazil and plans to take English classes at Cape Cod Community College beginning next week with the hopes of becoming a nurse in the United States.
