Dennis Police Find No Issues at Massage, Bodyworks Businesses

DENNIS – The Dennis Police Department reported that businesses that offer therapeutic massages and bodyworks in town are operating within the law.

Detective Sgt. Cleve Daniels recently informed the Board of Selectmen that there have not been any issues at the seven licensed massage parlors in Dennis.

“Through some simple checks through the Massachusetts website through the Department of Professional Licensing I have been able to runs checks on several of their employees and I’m happy to report they are all licensed,” Daniels said.

Daniels says several of the establishments in Dennis advertise bodyworks services. There are almost 300 bodyworks methods, or kinds of therapeutic touch.

“A lot of it is rooted in traditional Chinese alternative medicine,” Daniels said.

Bodywork businesses and services are unregulated in the state.

There is pending legislation in Massachusetts which would require bodyworks establishments be licensed and inspected, along the development of a board that provide regulatory oversight.

Many communities have had issues with human trafficking and prostitution from bodyworks businesses.

“I’m happy to report that we don’t have any of those problems in town that I am aware of,” Daniels said.

Daniels did ask for the public to contact police if they see suspicious activity or have any concerns.
