Dennis Selects New Assistant Town Administrator

DENNIS – The Town of Dennis officially has a new assistant town administrator.

The town’s Board of Selectmen formally appointed Taylor Cobb to the post at their meeting last week. Cobb currently serves a manager for social and supportive services with the Visiting Nurse Association of Cape Cod.

“Taylor is an impressive candidate who is more than qualified and ready to assume the assistant town administrator responsibilities,” Town Administrator Elizabeth Sullivan told the board, “His experience and background in the nonprofit sector striving to fill gaps in social services and programming service needs will complement Dennis. He is capable of thinking analytically, writes well, and shows leadership potential. He has enough budget development experience to plat productive and positive role in the budget development in Dennis.”

Cobb, who lives in Cotuit, is a member of the Barnstable Council on Aging and has a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Suffolk University.

The new assistant town administrator’s responsibilities will include assisting in the planning, administration, management, and coordination of the daily operations of the town in response to the directions of the Board of Selectmen and the specifications of existing policy, Town by-laws, state statutes and federal laws.

“I’m very pleased he applied for the position and certain he will become a valuable member of my management team,” Sullivan concluded, “More importantly though, Taylor is approachable, affable, and will be able to assimilate into Dennis with little challenge. Throughout the interview process he demonstrated integrity, a commitment to working collaboratively, and proficiency in conflict resolution and problem solving.”

According to Cobb’s Linkedin page, he will be accountable for organizing, directing, and providing administrative direction. Providing general oversight of financial services, and budget development activities.

The new assistant town administrator spoke only briefly before being unanimously approved by the board of selectmen, to thank those responsible for his hiring and to express excitement moving forward.

“I am honored to have been chosen for this position and I look forward to working with the people of Dennis for the betterment the town” he said.

Cobb is 34 years old, he will earn 92,000 dollars per year, and is set to begin his new job on august 14th.
