Dennis Town Meeting Voters to Decide on Various Spending Items

Dennis Town SealDENNIS – A Dennis town meeting article seeking approval for a pay-as-you throw trash system will likely be moved from Tuesday night’s warrant to the spring.

The Dennis Solid Waste and Recycling Committee last week asked selectmen to postpone the item. They cited additional questions by several residents and uncertainties about the new system.

The committee still believes PAYT is the way to go and issued a statement last week that said they were committed to sharing the evidence they believe will support their assertions.

Other items on tonight’s warrant include money to build a new bathhouse and concession stand on Mayflower Beach, the purchase of an old gas station in Dennis Port and funding for renovations at the Ezra Baker School.

Town Meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the Wixon School auditorium.
