BREWSTER – Cape Cod’s only annual maritime history conference returns to Brewster next month.
The 21st Cape Cod Maritime Symposium is organized by the Cape Cod Museum of Natural History. The event is planned for Saturday, November 4 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
One of this year’s featured speakers is W. Russell Webster, a retired Coast Guard captain who will talk about the role the Coast Guard played in the search and recovery mission after John F. Kennedy Jr’s plane crashed off of Martha’s Vineyard in 1999.
Other topics include the changing uses of harbors on Cape Cod from the 1700’s to present day, America’s first voyage to Japan in 1791, and the Opening of Japan in 1854.
Pre-registration is required for the event. The cost of admission is $25.
