Development Considered in Sandwich Marina District

fishing boatSANDWICH – Officials in Sandwich are looking into the possibility of developing some land in the marina district.

The town owns roughly 22 acres in the area, some of which could be considered for development.

A public hearing on the matter will be held on September 18th at Town Hall.

“We’re not going to be proposing or unveiling any specific proposal or plan,” Sandwich Assistant Town Manager Doug Lapp said of the upcoming meeting. “It’s really an initial meeting with the public to get their input to see what their opinions are about that area.”

Lapp says there are no specific ideas as to what could possibly be developed at the location, “it’s not a process geared towards any single developer or any single project in mind. It’s really a planning exercise to see what type of opportunities might be available in that area.”

Lapp added that not all 22 acres would be developed, as a portion of the land is wetlands.
