Disaster Animal Response Team Seeks Volunteers

golden-retriever-dog-1364426710r9xHARWICH – The Cape Cod Disaster Animal Response Team is looking for volunteers and will hold a recruitment and community preparedness event later this month.

The program is designed to help people become better prepared for disasters when it comes to caring for pets.

A mission of the team is to operate the pet shelters that are attached to the Barnstable County Regional Emergency Shelter System. Volunteers provide around-the-clock care for the pets that come into the activated emergency shelter with their owners.

The event will be held Saturday, April 30 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Harwich Community Center.
