‘Discover Barnstable’ Returns For A 2nd Year

HYANNIS-  The Town of Barnstable has once again partnered with the ‘Gateway Greeter Program’, and other various town departments, to launch this years ‘Discover Barnstable’ event.

Assistant Director of Planning and Development for Barnstable Liz Hartsgrove says that the program is comprised of “talks and activities that allow families of all ages, and people to learn more about what kind of programs that each of the departments or divisions that are participating really offer.”

“That way that can have it in a safe environment and have some fun, and learn about all these kind of cool things,” Harsgrove said.

This year’s participants include officials from the Barnstable Municipal Airport, Village Libraries, Public Works, Natural Resources, Senior Services, Golf, Recreation, and Animal Control.

“We’ve had a wide variety of people [during last year’s event] from all over the Cape who were year-round residents that participated.”

“We had visitors from international countries that actually participated and took advantage of it, and learne a lot about different things about the Cape, which probably gets them a little bit enthusiastic to come back,” said Hartsgrove.

Events will span every Monday and Thursday through July, and August at the Bismore Welcome Center Lawn, located at 180 Ocean Street, Hyannis.
