WEST DENNIS – A dolphin was found dead on Trotting Park ROad Beach in West Dennis Friday.

Kerry Branon, a spokesperson for the International Fund for Animal Welfare, said the common dolphin was male and seven feet long.

The mammal was removed from the beach and a necropsy will be preformed to find a cause of death.

Branon said 22 centimeter wounds were present on the dolphin and that a dolphin stranding on the Cape is a regular occurrence.
