HARWICH – Cape Downwinders, the local group of citizens opposed to the Pilgrim Nuclear Power plant, has enlisted the help of Senators Markey and Warren along with Congressman William Keating in their latest campaign to increase oversight at the plant.

The Senators and Representative Keating signed a letter to NRC chair Kristen Svinicki outlining concerns over the plant’s recent shutdown during a blizzard on January 4th.

The group says Pilgrim’s owner, Entergy, was not properly prepared for the storm and put the area in danger during the emergency shutdown operation.

Pilgrim is set to be decommissioned in 2019.
