YARMOUTH – Yarmouth Police arrested the driver of a vehicle that struck a bicyclist Friday night on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Police say 45-year-old Holly Anderson of Dennisport, struck the bicyclist while travelling on Route 28 near West Yarmouth Road around 11:30 p.m.
Officer Kevin Antonovich was following Anderson when the accident and observed her fleeing the scene.
After Officer Antonovich made sure the bicyclist was okay with only minor injuries, he pursued Anderson until she was stopped on Winslow Grey Road near Anthony Road.
Anderson was arrested and charted with her fourth O.U.I. offense, leaving the scene after causing personal injury, operating to endanger and marked lanes violation.
Anderson was transported to the Yarmouth Police Department where she was processed and held pending release on bail.
The bicyclist was treated at the scene and refused to be taken to the hospital.
