BARNSTABLE – The Massachusetts Drought Management Task Force and Office of Energy and Environmental Affairs has issued a Drought Advisory for Southeastern Massachusetts.
The notice mandates that various government agencies keep a close eye on the weather and the various conditions it produces.
Four straight months of atypically dry weather encouraged the task force’s notice.
According to those officials, cumulative precipitation deficits were four to five inches below normal for April, May and June.
This weather could deplete water supply and create extra risk of wildfires.
The task force will meet again in August.
