Dual Auctions Will Help Iconic Eastham Building

EASTHAM – Dual art auctions are coming to the Chapel in the Pines in Eastham.

The funds raised will go towards the building’s much needed restoration and improvement.

“The Chapel in the Pines was built in 1889.  Captain Penniman was a sea captain who felt there was a need for a more progressive church community in Eastham,” said volunteer Deborah Ullman about the historic building’s beginning.

A silent auction will kick off on December 2nd between 3 and 5p.m. at the brand new library next door.

The main event, a live auction, will take place on Saturday December 16th at 6p.m., also at the library.  The silent auction winners will also be announced at this event.

It will be proceeded by a reception in the Chapel between 4:30 and 6:00. The live and silent auction will be comprised of 10 and 16 works of art respectively.

The pieces will include paintings in various media, photographs, sculptures, ceramics and objects d’art.

“Many big names, Folk artists and other acoustic performers, have played there.  From Bluegrass groups to singer-songwriters, Blues players and so forth,” said Ullman.

Project highlights include a new roof, a handicap access ramp and a rear deck overlooking Depot pond.
