Duffy Announces Host/Prizes Ahead of 9th Annual Gala

HYANNIS – Former WCVB reporter Susan Wornick has been announced as the master of ceremonies for this year’s Duffy Health Center Annual Gala.

The ninth annual event features a southern-themed dining menu as well as numerous live and silent auction prices.

As in past years, everyone who purchases a ticket to the Gala will be automatically entered into a drawing to leave the Gala that night for a weekend getaway.

This year, the two winners and their guests will board a Rectrix Aviation Challenger jet to fly to Jekyll Island, Georgia and spend two nights at the exclusive Jekyll Ocean Club.

“What happens is about 350 people come to the event to you’re supposed to come with your suitcase packed,” explained Elyse DeGroot, Director of Development and Community Relations for Duffy, “and then, during the live auction two people’s names are drawn and they and a guest win the trip to Jekyll Island Georgia this year.”

This year’s live auction includes two tickets to the Nantucket Project, passes to see “Springsteen on Broadway,” a privately catered Beef and Bourbon Farm-to-Table dinner for six, and a chance to hear Taylor Swift at Fenway or Bruno Mars at TD Garden.

Ticket and auction sales go to benefit the Duffy Heath center, which DeGroot explained is a very deserving cause.

“Our specialty is working with people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness across the Cape,” she said.

“People come to us not only for their primary care but also for mental health services, behavior health services, substance use disorder services, and case management services so really a very integrated model of care.”

The festivities will take place on Friday, May 4th, to purchase tickets visit www.501auctions.com/duffygala.
