BREWSTER – Veterans in Brewster, Sandwich and surrounding areas will have the opportunity to receive free dental services this week.
On Friday, November 16, Dr. Stephen Bellorini, Dr. Owais Shaikh and team at East Brewster Dental will be honoring and supporting local veterans as part of Veteran’s Free Dentistry Day, a day dedicated to providing free dental care to the growing number of veterans without dental insurance.
“We understand that many veterans in our community and across the nation haven’t been to the dentist for a long period of time. Some veterans don’t have the financial means,” said Dr. Bellorini.
“This event is a great opportunity for us to share our time and resources with the men and women who have dedicated their lives to our country.”
There is increasing evidence that links oral health to overall health and well-being. The signs and symptoms of over 100 medical conditions, including diabetes, HIV/AIDS, Lou Gehrig’s disease and oral cancer may first be detected through traditional oral examinations.
“We are incredibly thankful for everything these veterans have sacrificed,” said Dr. Shaikh. “Through this event, we hope to honor and support our local veterans and encourage them to adopt an ongoing oral care regimen.”
Sandwich Dental Associates at 335 Cotuit Road in Sandwich will also be providing free dental care for veterans on November 15 from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. An appointment is required.
During Veteran’s Free Dentistry Day, a choice of one free cleaning, filling or extraction will be provided per patient between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Patients will be accepted by appointment only. Staff at East Brewster Dental recommend anyone interested to call as soon as possible to reserve an appointment, as spots are filling up quickly.
